Well, I could probably give you lots of reason and a fair bit of blurb but instead let's hear from one of my couples about why they chose a Celebrant, their experience of the process, memories of the day and their advice to couples planning their own special day!
Couple: Ian and Zoe
Date: 25th May 2024
Venue: Asylum Chapel, Peckham
How did you find out about Celebrant ceremonies and what made you decide to have one?
Dave was one of the suggested suppliers on the Asylum website. We wanted a celebrant as we felt it would be much more personal and much more us.
How was the overall process of creating your wedding ceremony?
It was very easy, we answered a questionnaire about our relationship which Dave provided. It was also nice to reflect on our relationship. We sent back the questionnaire and Dave compiled a script which we were able to review and make amendments to, which were not that many.
How was the experience of writing and delivering your vows?
Daunting at first, we were a little unsure but once we got into the flow it wasn't too bad and Dave was on hand to help and guide us.
Looking back at the day, how did your ceremony feel?
The ceremony was wonderful. Dave really engaged with the guests and really added a great energetic vibe whilst also being informal and fun.
What ended up being your favourite part of your ceremony and why?
Our baby son was born in October. It was lovely that we were able to incorporate a mini naming ceremony which involved guest participation as well.
How did your celebrant ceremony tie in with the rest of your wedding day?
It helped set the tone for the rest of the day. Dave was also helpful at explaining what was going to happen and made us feel at ease and under control.
How did your ceremony go down with your guests?
They loved it. We received so many wonderful compliments.
Now that you are wedding planning experts, what advice would you give to someone planning their wedding?
Plan and book the bigger expenses as much in advance as possible, have an expense spreadsheet or list so you can see where you are with your budget and check in with each other from time to time. And just go with your gut!
What would you say to other couples considering a celebrant ceremony?
If you want more of a personal touch with a really fun vibe just go for it! Highly recommended.

Dave was an incredible celebrant. Great humour and you can see how much care he puts into his clients. Great suit too!
Dave’s enthusiasm is infectious and he really listens to your needs. His attention to detail too is impressive and puts you very much at ease ahead of the big day. Couldn’t recommend him highly enough.
Celebrant ceremonies are the best. Everyone should have one!
